Poken strengthens US foothold

Event technology provider Poken has expanded its global operations with the opening of an office in New York, to better support its growing East Coast meetings and events industry business.

The new office adds to Poken's existing US presence in Palo Alto, California and will be located in the Meatpacking District, a hub for technology firms including Google and YouTube.

Poken’s former head of global events, Ramon Zurbuchen, will head up the new US team in the role of general manager. Brian MacNamara, formerly director of sales for financial services company Zipmark, has also been recruited to the role of sales and event manager, while several additional recruits have been added to the team, primarily with event management or software development backgrounds.

Stephane Doutriaux, chief executive of Poken, said: "The New York team will work to expand our East Coast client base and operations while continuing our commitment towards providing clients with cutting-edge technology solutions. This is an exciting time for Poken as our client base continues to expand and we celebrate several new client wins."

These include the bid for a third consecutive year to supply Poken's meeting scheduling and attendance tracking platform to events for the Department of Veteran Affairs, as well as other Government events, and work for leading medical industry associations and large corporate clients.
