Hey there fitness fanatics! If you‘ve been following me for a while, you know that I‘m always on the hunt for ways to optimize my nutrition and make healthy eating as simple as possible. So when I first heard about FlexPro Meals, a prepared meal delivery service designed specifically for athletes and fitness enthusiasts, I knew I had to give it a try.
I‘ve been using FlexPro Meals for about 3 months now, and I‘m excited to finally share my full review with you. In this post, I‘ll give you my honest thoughts on everything from the food quality and taste to the ordering process and customer service. I‘ll also compare FlexPro to some other popular meal delivery services and help you decide if it‘s worth the investment for your goals and lifestyle.
But first, let‘s start with a quick overview of what FlexPro Meals is all about and how it works.
What is FlexPro Meals?
In a nutshell, FlexPro Meals is a subscription-based meal delivery service that sends fully prepared, macro-balanced meals right to your doorstep each week. The company was founded in 2013 by Nathan Corn, a competitive bodybuilder and fitness coach who wanted to make it easier for his clients (and himself) to stick to their meal plans without spending hours in the kitchen.
All of the meals are made fresh with high-quality, whole food ingredients and designed to support lean muscle growth, fat loss, and athletic performance. You can choose from two main meal plans based on your goals:
- Fat Trimmer Meals: 300-400 calories per meal, ideal for weight loss
- Lean Muscle Meals: 500-700 calories per meal, ideal for muscle gain and athletics
Within each plan, there are 35+ different menu options to choose from each week, including plenty of gluten-free, dairy-free, and pork-free meals. You can order as many or as few meals as you want (minimum of 7), and there‘s no long-term commitment required.
My Experience with FlexPro Meals
I first decided to give FlexPro Meals a try back in January when I was in the middle of a busy season at work and struggling to find the time and energy to meal prep. I had heard good things about the service from some of my fitness friends, so I figured it was worth a shot.
Ordering Process
The sign-up process was super quick and easy. I just went to the FlexPro Meals website, entered my email address and zip code, and selected the Lean Muscle Meal Plan (since I‘m currently focused on building strength and putting on size). Then I was able to view the upcoming menu and pick out my meals for the week.
I really appreciated the wide variety of options and how easy it was to filter by different categories like "gluten-free," "spicy," or "high protein." I ended up ordering 15 meals for my first week to have plenty of healthy breakfasts, lunches, and dinners on hand.
Delivery and Packaging
My first FlexPro Meals box arrived about 3 days later, neatly packed with ice packs and insulation to keep everything fresh. I was impressed by how well-organized everything was and how clear the heating instructions and nutrition info was on each meal.
One small issue I ran into was that one of the meals had leaked a bit in transit, leaving a bit of a mess in the box. But I reached out to customer service and they promptly apologized and issued me a credit for that meal. Overall, not a huge deal and I was just happy they took care of it so quickly.
Taste and Food Quality
Now for the part you‘re all probably most curious about: how do FlexPro Meals actually taste? I‘m happy to report that overall, I‘ve been really impressed with both the quality and flavor of the meals.
The proteins (especially the chicken and steak) are always tender and well-seasoned, and I love that they use a variety of creative spice blends and sauces to keep things interesting. Some of my personal favorite meals have been:
- Sweet Chili Chicken with Brown Rice and Carrots
- Barbacoa Beef with Sweet Potatoes and Broccoli
- Pesto Salmon with Quinoa and Green Beans
- Turkey Chili with Kidney Beans and Cheddar
I will say that not every single meal has been a home run (I wasn‘t crazy about the texture of the pork tenderloin). And as with any pre-made meal, some of the veggies can get a little soft/mushy after reheating. But for the most part, I‘ve been consistently impressed with how flavorful and satisfying the meals are, especially for being so healthy.
Nutrition and Results
As someone who tracks their macros pretty closely, one of the things I appreciate most about FlexPro Meals is how transparent they are about the nutrition information. Each meal comes with a label showing the exact breakdown of calories, protein, carbs, and fat, which makes it super easy to fit into my daily targets.
Here‘s a look at the average macronutrient profile for each plan:
Fat Trimmer Meals | Lean Muscle Meals |
---|---|
300-400 calories | 500-700 calories |
35-45g protein | 50-60g protein |
25-35g carbs | 50-70g carbs |
5-10g fat | 10-20g fat |
Since starting FlexPro Meals, I‘ve definitely noticed a difference in my energy levels, recovery time, and overall performance in the gym. It‘s so much easier to hit my protein and calorie goals consistently when I have healthy meals ready to go. In the past 3 months, I‘ve been able to gain about 4 pounds of lean muscle while keeping my body fat percentage the same, which I‘m super happy with.
Of course, everybody‘s results will vary depending on their specific goals and overall lifestyle. But if you‘re looking for a convenient way to support your training without sacrificing taste or quality, I think FlexPro is 100% worth checking out.
Comparing FlexPro Meals to Other Meal Delivery Services
I‘ve tried quite a few other prepared meal delivery services over the years (Trifecta, Freshly, Ice Age Meals, etc.), so I thought it might be helpful to quickly compare FlexPro to some of the other top contenders:
Pricing: In terms of cost, FlexPro Meals is very competitive, especially considering the quality of the ingredients and the specificity of the macro profiles. The most affordable option is to order 21 meals per week on the Fat Trimmer Plan, which comes out to $8.50 per meal. The Lean Muscle Meals are a bit pricier (up to $13.49 per meal for a 7-meal plan), but still very reasonable compared to eating out or using other meal prep services.
Menu Variety: One of the biggest advantages of FlexPro Meals, in my opinion, is the huge variety of menu options they offer each week. With 35+ different meals to choose from (and new ones added regularly), it‘s easy to find something that fits your taste preferences and dietary needs. That said, if you have very specific allergies or a highly restrictive diet (vegan, AIP, etc.), you might be better off with a more specialized service.
Customization: Unlike some other services that offer set meal plans, with FlexPro Meals you have complete control over which individual meals you receive each week. However, you don‘t have the ability to customize the meals themselves (i.e., swapping out sides or proteins). If that level of customization is important to you, a service like Ice Age Meals or Trifecta might be a better fit.
Taste: Taste is obviously pretty subjective, but in my experience, FlexPro Meals are some of the best-tasting prepared meals I‘ve had from any service. They really go above and beyond with the flavors and seasonings, so it never feels like you‘re sacrificing taste for nutrition.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of FlexPro Meals
Before we wrap up this monster review, I wanted to share a few quick tips for making the most of your FlexPro Meals experience:
-
Order enough meals for your needs. This might seem obvious, but it‘s important to be realistic about how many meals per day you‘ll actually need. If you‘re using FlexPro for all 3 meals, I recommend ordering at least 18-21 per week so you‘re not stuck scrambling for last-minute options.
-
Don‘t be afraid to freeze extra meals. If you have a busy week coming up or just want to stock up, don‘t hesitate to pop some of your meals in the freezer for later. They‘ll keep for up to 2 months and reheat beautifully. Just be sure to thaw them in the fridge overnight before microwaving.
-
Mix up your menu choices. One of the great things about FlexPro is the variety, so take advantage of it! Challenge yourself to try at least 1-2 new meals each week alongside your tried and true favorites. You might just discover a new go-to dish.
-
Keep an eye out for sales and promos. FlexPro Meals regularly runs promotions for new customers and special occasions like Black Friday or New Year‘s. At the time of this review, they‘re offering $250 off your first 4 weeks when you order at least 15 meals per week! Be sure to follow them on social media and sign up for the email list so you never miss a deal.
Final Thoughts on FlexPro Meals
So, after 3 months and hundreds of meals, would I recommend FlexPro to a friend? Absolutely.
While no meal service is going to be absolutely perfect for everyone, I truly believe that FlexPro offers some of the best overall value, quality, and variety for fitness-minded folks who want to eat well with minimal effort.
The convenience of having fresh, macro-balanced meals delivered each week has been a total game-changer for my meal prep routine and my progress toward my physique and performance goals. And I love that I can trust the ingredients are always top-notch and sourced from reputable suppliers.
Of course, the biggest potential downside of FlexPro Meals is the cost, which can definitely add up over time (around $200+ per week for 3 meals per day). But for me, the time and energy I save on meal planning and cooking is well worth the price tag. It all comes down to prioritizing what matters most to you!
If you‘ve been curious about trying FlexPro Meals for yourself, I highly recommend taking advantage of one of their new customer offers and starting with a smaller order of 7-10 meals. That way you can get a feel for the food and service before committing to a larger plan.
I hope this review has been helpful as you navigate the wide world of prepared meal delivery services. Keep in mind that my experience is just one perspective, so be sure to do your own research and listen to your body above all else.
