While the website names a lot of additional features, there is surprisingly limited information about how to use those features and what the app can actually do for you.
There are only three menus at the top of the Hashtag Expert website— Blog, Contact, and Download.
There isn’t any FAQ, in-depth information about the company or the service, nor any instructions on how to use the features they list on the home page.
This is really disappointing because it doesn’t give you a true and complete overview of how the service works before it asks you for your personal details.
Not only that, Hashtag Expert doesn’t offer services via web browser, so you are required to download the app to use the service.
In our tests, we were also able to download it to a desktop and not only use it via mobile, but it’s pretty inconvenient if you prefer to work on a desktop computer for your Instagram content creation and captioning.
After you download the app, there is no information about the service— you simply need to create an account.
It will ask you if you are an individual, creator/influencer, business owner, social media manager, or other, and you’ll go on to the next step.
It looks like Hashtag Expert also generates hashtags for multiple platforms as you can choose which platforms you want hashtags for on the next screen.
It’s great to have a generator in one place for all of these platforms, but how do they ensure they’re really getting the top Instagram hashtags with so many platforms to manage?
Doesn’t add up completely.
On the third screen you’ll choose three of your interests (acting, beauty, cars, etc.) and then they will want you to provide your email.
They claim zero spam, but it makes little sense as to why they need your email address in the first place here.

Review Verdict: Not the Best, Not the Worst
Our final verdict for our Hashtag Expert review is that it’s not the worst tool on the market, but it’s questionable in how it operates and hides information from its potential clients, and also known for overcharging or double-billing users.
You also have to download an app to use it and understand how the plans work, which is really inconvenient and not ideal for those who want to weigh their options before giving their personal information to a downloaded app.
We find that Flick is a better solution— it’s more accurate, it has clear and transparent explanations of its service, it offers a FAQ, and ends up being more cost-effective when compared to the features of Hashtag Expert.
